Starting in Vancouver, this route takes you over the Sea-to-Sky Highway in the direction of Whistler and Lillooet. Enjoy the scenic ocean vistas, soaring mountains and waterfalls.
Wells Gray is known as the waterfall park as there are over 250 waterfalls located within the area, including Helmcken Falls.
On your way to Jasper you will drive through Mount Robson Provincial Park, named after the tallest mountain of the Canadian Rockies and the origin of the Fraser River. Watch for wildlife along the road! In Jasper National Park visit Maligne Canyon and glacier-fed Maligne Lake.
Drive one of the world’s greatest mountain highways – the Icefields Parkway – in the direction of Banff. Enjoy the outstanding views and excellent wildlife viewing. “Mandatory” stopovers should include the Columbia Icefield, Sunwapta Falls, Peyto Lake and the famous Lake Louise.
Banff National Park offers spectacular mountain scenery and many natural attractions, like the Upper Hot Springs, Cave & Basin Centre, Bow Falls and so much more.
Drive the Cowboy Trail with picturesque rolling hills, ranchland and cowboys alongside the road to Waterton Lakes National Park, a beautiful and idyllic place with the lake, mountains, the waterfalls and the stately old hotel.
Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park contains the largest collection of rock art in North America dating back thousands of years.
In the heart of the badlands you’ll travel through otherworldly landscapes and topography. This area is a fossil hotbed, there are dinosaur bones scattered all over in Dinosaur Provincial Park!
Wou will also visit Drumheller with Canada’s largest dinosaur museum where you come face-to-face with incredible creatures that lived millions of years ago.
In Elk Island National Park there are no dinosaurs, but here the elk and bison roam free.

  1. Day 1 Vancouver - Fort Langley or Burnaby

    Today you are picking up your motorhome and after having stocked up on groceries you can either relax or venture out of Vancouver.

  2. Day 2 Fort Langley or Burnaby - Whistler

    On your second day you drive the scenic ‘Sea-to-Sky’ Highway along the many fjords of the Pacific Coast to Whistler, a bustling summer and ski-resort. Discover scenic ocean vistas, soaring mountains, dramatic waterfalls, bustling communities, parks and outdoor activities.

  3. Day 3 Whistler - Lillooet

    In the morning visit the downtown area of Whistler, rent a bike and explore the area, take the Peak-to-Peak Gondola, hike to Lost lake. The beautiful Duffey Lake Road brings you straight across the scenic Coast Mountains to Lillooet.

  4. Day 4 Lillooet - Wells Gray Provincial Park

    While driving on Highway 97 and 99, you can experience BC’s historic gold rush past. This journey takes you past historic buildings, through unique geological landscapes, and to parts of the original Cariboo Wagon Road that were used by more than 10,000 pioneers during the 1860s.

  5. Day 5 Wells Gray Provincial Park

    Wells Grey Provincial Park is famous for wildlife (black bears, grizzlies, moose, mountain goats, caribou, wolves, cougar, etc.), waterfalls and wilderness. Check out Dawson Falls and Helmcken Falls, which plunge down into mist-filled gorges.

  6. Day 6 Wells Gray Provincial Park – Jasper National Park

    Drive North over the Caribou Mountain roads where black bears are frequently seen. Visit the Rearguard Falls and maybe take the time for an exciting rafting trip on the mighty Fraser River. Drive through Mount Robson Provincial Park, named after the highest mountain of the Canadian Rockies.

  7. Day 7 Jasper National Park

    Enjoy Jasper and surroundings. Take a cruise on Maligne Lake, take the Jasper SkyTram to the summit of Whistlers Mountain with views of downtown, relax in Miette Hot Springs and visit the flowered meadows and glaciers of Mount Edith Cavell. Mountain lions, wolves, caribou, beaver and bear roam freely!

  8. Day 8 Jasper National Park – Banff National Park

    Today you drive the world’s most scenic highway, the Icefields Parkway. Marvel at the snowy peaks, icy-blue lakes and the famous Athabasca Glacier. See the Athabasca and Sunwapta Falls, walk on air on the Glacier Skywalk. Visit Peyto Lake and the famous azure blue waters of Lake Louise. Moraine Lake and Johnston Canyon should not be missed!

  9. Day 9 Banff National Park

    Check out downtown Banff with its many stores, see Lake Minnewanka, Vermillion Lakes, Bow Falls and the impressive Banff Springs Hotel. Dip in the hot pools and take the gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain.

  10. Day 10 Banff – Waterton Lakes Provincial Park

    Head south through the rolling prairie hills and cattle country to Waterton Lakes National Park. This park is characterized by the meeting of the Rocky Mountain peaks with the low-land prairies.

  11. Day 11 Waterton Lakes National Park

    A full day to explore Waterton Lakes National Park. Drive to Redrock Canyon and hike to Blakiston Falls. Keep your eyes on the lookout for bears on the drive to the canyon. Take the Shoreline Cruise down the lake or drive the Akamina Parkway and rent a canoe on Cameron Lake.

  12. Day 12 Waterton Lakes National Park – Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park (210 km/130 mi)

    Today you’re entering the Canadian Badlands with its unique coulee landscapes and hoodoo rock formations.

  13. Day 13 Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park

    Located in the magnificent Milk River Valley in an area of prairie grasslands and eroded sandstone formations, Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park is home to the highest concentration of petroglyphs and pictographs on the North American Plains. The park has been nominated by Parks Canada as a World Heritage site and is a sacred place for many aboriginal peoples.

  14. Day 14 Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park – Dinosaur Provincial Park (270 km/168 mi)

    A beautiful drive with many interesting stops along the way. From dinosaur eggs to the best corn you have ever tasted, it’s all here!

  15. Day 15 Dinosaur Provincial Park

    This park is home to the largest concentration of Cretaceous fossils on the planet and it is surrounded by dry hoodoos. Explore where the dinosaurs once roamed along breath-taking scenery.

  16. Day 16 Dinosaur Provincial Park – Drumheller (175 km/109 mi)

    Today you will explore more of the Canadian Badlands and our Travel Book points out many interesting sites to visit. From a suspension bridge, to ghost towns and a coal mine – lots to explore!

  17. Day 17 Drumheller

    This community was founded on coal but now thrives on another subterranean resource – dinosaur bones. Hoodoos dominate this badlands landscape, which has featured in many a movie (mainly Westerns). Visiting the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology is a must, along with a hike in the badlands.

  18. Day 18 Drumheller – Elk Island National Park (300 km/186 mi)

    Today you take the ferry across the Red Deer River and have the option to visit several sites on your way to Elk Island National Park. Stop at Horsethief Canyon to enjoy the views, or at Dry Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park. Try some delicious fudge In Big Valley, a western flavoured town. Our Travel Book shows you the way.

  19. Day 19 Elk Island National Park

    From the comfort of your RV, watch for the bison, elk, moose, white tailed and mule deer that freely roam the park. Feel the thrill of seeing them in their natural habitat. You may even spot the elusive Canadian lynx or coyote.

  20. Day 20 Elk Island National Park – Edmonton

    Say goodbye to the animals, as you are returning your home on wheels today.
